The Altamont Cruisers hosts a Cruise-In on the last Saturday of every month between May and September. This is a free to all event that features classic, muscle and custom cars from all over the Bay Area. Each event features music and raffles to make a fun, family-friendly afternoon. Cruise-Ins run from 3pm-6pm where you can also enjoy snacks or dinner from any of the restaurants in the shopping center. Many people have asked “what is a Cruise-In”? Obviously, everyone isn’t aware of what they are. Back in the days when we were new to cruising, and cars in general, we would all gather in some parking lot between laps up and down the “strip” and swap stories about ourselves and our cars, and some of them were even true, more or less. The cooler guys would pop their hoods to show off the new chrome valve covers that they had just bought from Grand Auto, Kagen or O’Reily to dress up their engines. Our Cruise-Ins are kind of like that, except now many of us bring our families.

We park our rides, pop some of our hoods and we wander around and look at all of the great cars that show up, and like the old days, it doesn’t cost anything. And, like the old days we swap stories about ourselves and our cars, and like the old days, some of them are more or less true; but like the stories that fishermen tell, they get embellished over time.
